Public seminars conducted in three administrative regions

Asmara, 21 June 2005 (ERINA) - Public seminars have been conducted in the Southern, Anseba and Northern Red Sea regions on the objective situation and current tasks in the country.
Similar seminars were earlier organized by the PFDJ in Asmara and other parts of the country. The current and past seminars aimed at briefings members of the public on the objective situation in the country, explain development plans drown up by the government and enhance popular participation in Asmara and other regions.
The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, the Minister of Education, Mr. Osman Saleh, the Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Berhane Abrehe, and the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Mohammed Seid Bareh conducted the latest seminars and briefings in the Southern and Anseba regions.
Similarly, in the Northern Red Sea region, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Tesfai Gebreselassie, the Minister of Health, Mr. Saleh Meki and the Administrator of the region, Mr. Abdalla Musa conducted the seminar.
The ministers and administrators noted that Eritrea had coped with different challenges over the past seven years and is now entering a new phase of stepped-up development endeavors and increased vigilance to safeguarding national sovereignty. They further pointed out that the Government had implemented diverse infrastructure and development programs through the Warsay-Yikaalo Development Campaign. These programs were particularly aimed at rehabilitating the economic establishments that sustained damage as a result of the TPLF regime's war of aggression and those affected by recurrent drought.
The officials added that the Government had outlined and is undertaking different activities in the political and economic sectors, and called on active popular participation so as to attain the set goals.
The seminar participants expressed views and opinions on the functions of public institutions and pledge to meet all challenges as well as facilitate the effectiveness of development programs.
