Press release by the Bank of Eritrea
By Staff
Jul 6, 2005, 19:36

It is to be recalled that the Bank of Eritrea and the Himbol Currency Exchange, Remittance and Savings Agency issued directives in the beginning of this year, like making declarations and the like upon arrival in the country with a view to promoting closer relations between the Agency and Eritreans residing abroad. As part of its efforts to give effective and improved services to travelers, Himbol would henceforth render the following additional services.

1. Travelers can deposit their money for a period of no more than 3 months in the Eritrean Embassy/Himbol branch office in the country of their residence and come to Eritrea with valid documents only. While here, Himbol would provide them payment in Nakfa of the deposited amount abroad.

It is advisable that aged people, mothers with babies and persons facing writing problems in filling Declaration Form resort to the forementioned additional services of the Bank, the press release stated.

Those travelers who did not make use of all the money they had earlier deposited at the Embassy/Himbol branch office in the country of residence are entitled to claim the said money abroad, the release added.

2. Visitors during vacation are entitled to make withdrawal of both saving accounts and the sum remitted through Himbol branch offices everywhere in Eritrea through all branch offices of the Agency.

3. In case visitors in Eritrea wish to borrow money from Himbol, the Agency would meet their request upon fulfillment of the necessary loan procedures, and on return to their place of residence they are obliged to pay back the borrowed money within a month to the Eritrean Embassy/Himbol branch office.
