Eritrea attends 45th International Athletics Federation meeting

Helsinki, 4 August 2005 -
Eritrea attended the 45th International Athletics Federation meeting in Helsinki, Finland from August 2 to 4. The purpose of the meeting of the 209 members of the Athletics Federation is to upgrade the Federation's constitution which is functional till present day.

The President of the National Athletics Federation of Eritrea, Mr. Beyene Russom, proposed extending to 6 years the 3-year suspension of those athletes who are changing their nationality. Several participants of the meeting accepted the proposal and stressed the need for giving the matter due attention.

The International Athletics Competition is due to take place in Helsinki on August 6.

5 Eritrean athletes including Zeresenay Tadesse have left for the Finnish capital to participate in the competition.
