Two Ministers conduct tour in Southern region

The Minister of Land, Water and Environment, Mr. Woldemichael Gebremariam, and the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, conducted a tour in different parts of the Southern region on August 10 and 11.
Both ministers inspected various crops planted in the administrative areas of Dubarwa, Mendefera, Emni-Haili and Adi-Quala. They also visited micro-dams and embankments in Adike-Tekula that were built to conserve soil and water. Moreover, the two ministers visited the seedling distribution center in Dubarwa and the Azeb poultry farm.
Mr. Arefaine noted that the construction of micro-dams and embankments is vital to attain food security. Furthermore, he reminded that investors engaged in animal feed production have to be encouraged, give due attention to bee reproduction and protect trees in these areas.
The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussien and the branch head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Bahta Tedros, accompanied the ministers in the tour.
Different plantations in the respective administrative areas involving 23,000 hectares in Dubarwa, over 9,000 hectares in Mendefera, over 13,000 hectares in Emni-Haili and more than 14,000 hectares in Adi-Quala are believed to be in excellent conditions.
