“You live a new life for every new language you speak. If you know only one language, you live only once.” This axiom indicates the significance of being multilingual. In fact, mastering multiple languages makes one a better person. The knowledge of various languages, especially the acquisition of international languages, makes interpersonal communications easier and smoother. Indeed, it has a significance that goes beyond communication; for instance, a multilingual nation has a greater depth of cultural wealth and greater capability to influence people in various disciplines. “Language is tool, language is power, be it an international language or any other language”, said participants of a two-day workshop held at Asmara Palace Hotel from 9-10 April 2010 focusing on the promotion of Arabic language education and developing respective curriculum .
Though it can not be taken as a substitute to academic studies, co-curricular and extra curricular activities are very essential for the promotion of multidimensional development of students lest the atmosphere of the school environment and academic activities become monotonous. Fetching water was one of the difficult tasks of everyday life for the inhabitants Ma'ereba town, Southern Region. They had to walk for two hours to get to the nearest water source to collect water of unreliable sanitation.
Every corner of the country including the remote areas has been interconnected through a network of roads as part of the ongoing infrastructural activities. The communication and transportation gap between the cities and rural areas has also been narrowed. If it was difficult to give good services of any kind due to the lack of roads it has now become a matter of minutes or hours to transport people and commodities from and to different places.
When driving a few kilometers down to Massawa through the Asmara-Massawa road the amazing railway lines accompanies a traveler and never abandons its companion till he/she reaches the coastal areas. It just changes from right side to the left side of the asphalted road as if it is trying not to make one feel bored of following the same pathway.
