Festival Holland: Commemorating Culture and National Pride
By Festival Media Group on Jul 10, 2004, 23:13

Today, Saturday 10th of July 2004, for the second day the Eritrean Festival 2004 in Holland continued starting from 9:00 a.m throughout the whole day with different sport activities: such as football, swimming, tag of war and cycling. I is great honour to see all Eritreans in high gear mood to commemorate their culture and spiritual link with their motherland. The Eritrean Festival in Utrecht city , which is taking place under the motto of “let’s guarantee our independence with development” has unequivocal message that even today as it turned out yesterday, all Eritreans living in the Netherlands has promised to remain alert for any internal and external threat.

Saturday, the second day of the festival was kicked off with football competitions among five soccer teams from different cities of Holland. The names of the teams self express the Eritrean identity. The teams were Sinit from Utrecht city, Dahlak from Rotterdam city, Hadnet from Amsterdam, Badme from Campen and Sewit from Leeuwarden city.

While the football tournment was underway, there was kids’ playback and talent show, which was followed by different kids entertainments. The festival organizing committee’s hard part wasn’t attracting young Eritreans, but how to keep them energetic participants.

We, the media group, are very glad to watch everybody enjoying the festival with great enthusiasm and Eritreanism. It is a great honour to observe how all Eritreans participating in this Festival are celebrating their own culture, tradition and also their unity and above all expressing love to their country-Eritrea.

The Festival that will be going on till 11 July in Utrecht would highlight activities including seminar by senior government and PFDJ official, cultural shows, among others.
