An Eritrean Summer: (I) Asmara Days
By Huriy Ghirmai on Aug 13, 2004, 18:49

The gates are still the same colour but Aboi Embaye - the caretaker - is not here anymore. My class at first grade used to stand next to the chapel. I go in and it waits for me unlocked and I enter with such excitement. The room looks small and the benches so tiny. How things change! I sit on where I imagined I used to sit. Scattered memories surface on my mind like falling globules that settle on a flat surface – undisturbed. Eventually, the memories merge together to bring me some vague recollection of my childhood at school.
A lasting memory! Summer 2004
By Mike Seium on Aug 12, 2004, 10:26

In early April Eritreans were celebrating the 2nd year anniversary of the Hague decision that awarded the symbolic town of Badme to it's rightful owner. Since then the spirit of the nation which thrives on "hade hizbi hade libi" has been on a roll with positive vibrations. As a person who had the opportunity to attend most of the events in America
and Eritrea, I feel honored to say that Eritrea is headed in the right direction. It's leadership is one that must be commended and it's strength is one that can never be weakened. It's biggest resource "THE PEOPLE" or should I say "SHAEBIA" have made me realize that the nation is stronger than ever.
The Land of Hope and Glory, Sawa
By Sirak Bahlbi on Aug 4, 2004, 19:43

To some it might be an extreme paradox or even a down right lie and to others it might sound a case of extreme exaggeration; however to many Eritreans who are willing and able to see beyond the mist that surround this place, Sawa is fast becoming the land of hope and glory that characterizes the very notion of Eritrean determination and values. In the occasion of the 10th year anniversary of the birth of Sawa and the historical event of the 1st Eritrean youth festival, it is an important milestone where we can pause and take a snapshot of this unique place called Sawa.
Observations from Sawa!
By Mike Seium on Jul 27, 2004, 16:24

It has now been a week since my arrival to Eritrea from the U.S and after an immediate tour to Massawa with over 85 kids ranging in age from 13-25 from mostly the East coast of the U.S, through Semenawi Bahri and back to Asmara and on to Keren and Barentu on the way to Sawa! Yes SAWA! The back bone of the Eritrean Nation I am back to Asmara. I can't describe in words the whole trip but I will attempt to keep you all updated since this is an opportunity to do so before I get access to the Internet again.
Dialogue…what?
By Esayas Temesgen on Jul 22, 2004, 20:05

So, not considering the painstaking processes…the Algiers’ agreement and the border commission’s Final and binding verdict, as an outcome of a rigorous dialogue among all the parties evolved including the United States of America; And after the fact that individual nations and Worlds major organization such as the OAU; EU; the US congress and the UN Security Council uphold the phenomenon-now Ethiopia cries foul.
Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody
By Issayas Tesfamariam on Jul 14, 2004, 20:10

When one reads the latest (July 7th 2004) Progress Report on Eritrea/Ethiopia of the Secretary General (Kofi Annan) to the Security Council, one would assume that the report is an indictment of Eritrea.
A window into the other guarantors of lawlessness and war
By Haileab Luul Tesfai on Jul 14, 2004, 15:27

Last month, in the VOA debate between the ambassadors of BOTH sides, the former ambassador of the US to Ethiopia, David Shinn appeared during the introduction giving snippets of his "authoritative" perspective into the conflict between BOTH SIDES. Who both sides? Isn’t that trivial, yet this term has now evolved to have a meaning of its own. It starts from the realm of the ambiguous extending right into total obusfication of facts, which finally leads into unpredictable territory of dreams and fantasies.

Festival Holland: Commemorating Culture and National Pride
By Festival Media Group on Jul 10, 2004, 23:13
Today, Saturday 10th of July 2004, for the second day the Eritrean Festival 2004 in Holland continued starting from 9:00 a.m throughout the whole day with different sport activities: such as football, swimming, tag of war and cycling. I is great honour to see all Eritreans in high gear mood to commemorate their culture and spiritual link with their motherland. The Eritrean Festival in Utrecht city , which is taking place under the motto of “let’s guarantee our independence with development” has unequivocal message that even today as it turned out yesterday, all Eritreans living in the Netherlands has promised to remain alert for any internal and external threat.
Mr. Legwaila Encouraging Meles Zenawi to be Defiant and Belligerent
By Sophia Tesfamariam on Jul 3, 2004, 08:58

The street-smart Prime Minister Meles Zenawi's insouciance, flip-flopping, arrogant, defiant, belligerent and intransigent behavior cannot be attributed to just his character. It is related to the misguided foreign aid he continues to receive from the European Union (EU), United States (US) and other major donors. Their indecisiveness and "with kids glove handling" approach has encouraged him to defy international law and to continue to divert US and other taxpayers monies to buy military hardware in pursuit of policies of aggression and expansion towards Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan. He is also being rewarded for the cruel and inhumane resettlement programs, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Ethiopia.
