Ensuring Food Security: Spearhead of All National Programs

Even though the agricultural activities in our country are confined to the summer season, it is this time of the year that many Eritrean farmers are engaged in hard labor to ensure their year long food security. In Eritrea, a country which is located in a region where there is scarcity of rainfall, one must come up with ways to utilize all that little rain in the agricultural endeavors and reserve what remains of it in water preserving structures. As it is, currently the people of Eritrea are working hard to gain from what’s expected to be a hopeful season of rains.

Conscious Youth: Resource Of The Nation’s Pride

It is to be recalled that two major Eritrean festivities were hosted in Sawa the past week, namely, the graduation ceremony of the 23rd round of national service as well as the 4th Eri-Youth festival.As it is commonly acknowledged fact that the greatest asset of any given nation is its manpower or human capital because this attribute has a say over the other assets of the nation, and particularly it’s the youth who are more responsible in this endeavor. Hence, because the youth have a say over the routes a given society could take, a nation’s investment on the youth becomes one of its primary tasks.

Patriotism: A Streak of the Eritrean Youth

The history of the struggle for political independence of the Eritrean masses is mainly a history of Eritrean youth. And the foundations of our nationalism are the norms and cherished values of our society. We became independent because the youth of that time, sacrificed everything they had for the benefit of our people. They put the interest of the collective before that of themselves. In such a young age, forfeiting personal gain and well-being and living for a common cause is a level of conscious self-actualization that could only be attained with a consciousness of the youth.

Education – The Best Arm Of A Youth

It’s undeniable that natural resources play an important role in the development drive of a nation, but it requires right application and capable technological knowhow in order to be utilized. And a society that has not armed itself with technology and knowledge, even if it is endowed with rich natural resources , it can not be expected to progress. It is a known fact that there are many nations who lack those resources, but have nonetheless advanced and some who got them all, but have remained backward and destitute.

And if the youth are to take responsibility for the nation and its people, it must first fully understand and comprehend the values of its respective society, and use them as its guiding compass. And a society that strives to satisfy its longing for progress must first arm the youth with modern knowledge and technology.
