The slogan that the EPLF used right from the beginning, “Politicize, Organize and Arm the Masses,” is one of the basic foundations of the victory achieved by the people of Eritrea. Our liberation struggle succeeded because it was founded on people. Had there not been a strong connection between the liberation movement and the people, the struggle would not have survived, let alone succeeded. The support was effective because it came in an organized form. |

The fabrication of non-existent national threats so as to addle the attention of the people from the mainstream political status quo to other less critical issues has been an age old trick employed by regimes bereft of popular support in their bid to lengthen their power hold. And as it is often the case, a regime that is on the verge of collapse every once in a while attempts to dig up and employ an old trick from the book; today we witness the TPLF regime repeat the claims of the previous Ethiopian regimes, that the Government of Eritrea is working to cause the rift and division of Ethiopia supposedly because Eritrea is a small nation that can not withstand the existence of united and strong Ethiopia. The era we are right now is one that is of economic disparity. And similarly, there’s an unequal access to media and information. Similar to the economic fraud being conducted to control and dominate the resources of the world under the pretexts of free market it is also being witnessed in the mass media the hegemony by different entities under the guise of free press and private ownership to become the dominating voice and to ensure ones agenda and desires through monopolizing information. |
