Anseba region: Land Transport Department’s branch office steps up endeavors to promote efficient service

The branch office of the land transport department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in  Anseba region is stepping up endeavors to promote efficient service.  According to reports, about 62% of the local inhabitants have become beneficiaries of improved service over the past 19 years.
Keren, 28 April 2010 - The branch office of the land transport department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in  Anseba region is stepping up endeavors to promote efficient service.  According to reports, about 62% of the local inhabitants have become beneficiaries of improved service over the past 19 years.

Mr. Mengesha Mahari, head of the branch office in the region, explained that land transport was restricted to the Keren-Asmara route before independence. At present, however, over 700 Km. long roads have been renovated and constructed in sub-zones of Geleb, Hamelmalo, Habero, Halhale, Asmat, Hagaz, Elaberad and Adi-Tekelezan respectively through the concerted effort of the people and the Government, he elaborated.

Mr. Mengesha further pointed out that 34 roads in a number of sub-zones have become operational and two bus terminals have been opened. The inhabitants of Mensura and surroundings in  Gash-Barka region have also become beneficiaries of transport service, as part of the expanded land transport service in Anseba region, reports added.
