Agriculture Ministry gives training to staff members in Southern region

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region gave training to staff members serving in Senafe sub-zone with a view to upgrading their skill and boosting output.
Senafe, 23 June 2010 - The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region gave training to staff members serving in Senafe sub-zone with a view to upgrading their skill and boosting output.

The head of the Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Solomon Meles, stated that the training focused on preparing agricultural projects and reports, developing agricultural extension, promoting bee breeding activities, introducing modern beehives and utilization of pesticides, among others.

He further indicated that agricultural experts have been deployed so as to provide advice to the farming community in the area which in turn would help to raise productivity.

The head of the Ministry’s branch in the region, Mr. Bahta Tedros, said on his part that the deployed agricultural experts are making due contribution in promoting soil and water conservation, enhancing wildlife and domestic animals, as well as boosting output.

Noting that the Government is making substantial investment in shifting from traditional farming to modern one, he called on the trainees to work diligently to this end through providing the necessary advice to the farmers.
