Society’s Enhanced Role Vital For Improving And Promoting Education

In an assessment meeting held in Mendefera regarding education in the Southern Region, the importance of enhanced participation of the society at large so as to promote and improve the outcome of education was emphasized.
Mendefera, 25 July 2010 – In an assessment meeting held in Mendefera regarding education in the Southern Region, the importance of enhanced participation of the society at large so as to promote and improve the outcome of education was emphasized.

At the meeting in which representatives of heads of education branch offices from 12 sub-zones of the region took part, in-depth discussion was conducted regarding the activities of the 2009/20010 academic year. It was also disclosed that the role of teachers, directors and supervisors were commendable.

The head of the branch office in Southern region, Mr. Kal'ab Tesfaselassie, indicated that over 84% of elementary, junior and secondary schools students have passed to the next grade. He also emphasized the need for stepped up endeavors so as to support students and improve quality of education.

Mr. Kal'ab finally stated that a research would be conducted to rearrange academic calendar so as to minimize students drop out in some areas.
