Commendable water and soil conservation popular campaign

Residents of Awenjeli administrative area in Hagaz sub zone are conducting water and soil conservation popular campaign with the objective of enhancing agricultural prodution as well as ensuring water supply both for humans and livestock.

Keren, 24 January 2018 – Residents of Awenjeli administrative area in Hagaz sub zone are conducting water and soil conservation popular campaign with the objective of enhancing agricultural prodution as well as ensuring water supply both for humans and livestock.

According to Mr. Ibrahim Jimi’e administrator of the Awenjeli administrative area 147 hectares of terraces are constructed as a result of the popular campaign being conducted with strong public participation that is expected to complete before the coming rainy season.

Stating that daily 200 residents are participating at the popular campaign, Mr. Ibrahim said that the campaign is expected to be conducted until March.

Thanks to an integrated effort exerted to tackle deforestation and tree planting activities, commendable achievement has been registered in redressing the environment and enhancing the forest in the area, Mr. Ibrahim highlighted.

In the same vein, the residents of the Awenjeli are also conducting 6 km dirt road renovation popular campaign linking their area with Hagaz. They also called for deploying a bus with a view to alleviate the transportation problem they are facing.
