Material and Monetary support for Fistula patients

Female civil servants and partners of NUEW from Tserona sub zone have contributed sanitation materials worth 36 thousand Nakfa and financial support of 11 thousand Nakfa to fistula patients in Mendefera Referral Hospital.

Mendefera, 20 July 2018 – Female civil servants and partners of NUEW from Tserona sub zone have contributed sanitation materials worth 36 thousand Nakfa and financial support of 11 thousand Nakfa to fistula patients in Mendefera Referral Hospital.

The head of NUEW branch in the sub-zone, Ms. Saliha Mohamed Berhan, said that the objective of the visit conducted on 16 July was to support and encourage the fistula patients.

The Medical Director of the Southern Region Referral Hospital, Dr. Simon Weldu said that moral, monetary and material contribution that concerned citizens and particularly women are make to fistula patients reflects the societal culture of cooperation and encouraging patients.

Fistula expert at the Referral Hospital, Dr. Habte Hailemolokot on his part stating that fistula exposes to physical, social and economic challenges called on the society in general and women in particular to avoid causes of the health problem including underage marriage and delivery outside health centers.
