The inhabitants of Foro sub-zone are carrying out soil and water conservation activities in a bid to augment agricultural production, stated Mr. Tesfai Hagos, head of the Ministry of Agriculture branch office in the area.
Foro, 12 August 2010 – The inhabitants of Foro sub-zone are carrying out soil and water conservation activities in a bid to augment agricultural production, stated Mr. Tesfai Hagos, head of the Ministry of Agriculture branch office in the area.

He said that about 1,200 hectares of farmland was put under cultivation as a result of the construction of water diversion schemes to divert the river water flowing from the highland areas.

Eng. Mihreteab Fessehaye, an expert in irrigational cultivation, explained that water catchments have been renovated in the administrative areas of Zula, Afta and Hadish, which have been out of use due to the flowing river waters the hills.

Mr. Tesfai called on the farming community in the area to properly utilize the agricultural infrastructure put in place so as to maximize their products.
