Asmara, 7 September 2010 – The eyeglass manufacturing plant of the Eritrean National War-disabled Veterans Association (ENWVA) is striving to meet the needs of members, and thereby reduce the Association’s expenditure, according to Mr. Rezene Mebrahtu, representative of the plant.

He explained that the plant is aimed at fulfilling the demands of war-disabled nationals and stabilizing the market, and that at present it has managed to provide service to the general public, beyond meeting the demand of the members.

Mr. Rezene further indicated that a year has already elapsed since the opening of the plant, and that it secures close cooperation on the part of the Health Ministry, National Association for the Blind and other partners. He went on to say that at present the Association has not only become self-reliant but is also making due contribution in efforts to prevent blindness.  There are also plans to upgrade the service at the clinic or sub-hospital level so as to strengthen the provision of service to the public and combat blindness, he added.
