Sutir Dairy Project Strives To Boost Productivity And Increase Its Supply To The Market

Sutir Dairy Project in Hamelmalo sub-zone is making relentless efforts to boost productivity and increase supply to the market at a fair price, disclosed Ms. Haregu Weldegergis, administrator of the sub-zone. Hamelmalo, 19 September 2010 – Sutir Dairy Project in Hamelmalo sub-zone is making relentless efforts to boost productivity and increase supply to the market at a fair price, disclosed Ms. Haregu Weldegergis, administrator of the sub-zone.

Pointing out that the Government has put in place the necessary infrastructure facilities so as to expand and strengthen the project, she explained that a committee which was set up at regional level is playing crucial role in alleviating existing problems.  Ms. Haregu also said that over 30 dairy farmers have been grouped in associations and are rendering commendable services. She further disclosed that the project is open for any interested investor.

The Administrator further disclosed that the members of the project have put under cultivation over 30 hectares for animal feed, and are providing over 800 liters of milk to the market places of Hamelmalo and Keren.  She also expressed conviction that the joining of new members to the project would further develop the dairy product.
