Residents of Keren said that the construction of a modern mosque in the town attests to the Eritrean government’s stance on religious freedom. They further stated that the construction of the mosque which is near in completion is a pride to the town residents in general and followers of the Islamic faith in particular.

More than 2,000 needy families in the sub-zones of Ara’ata, Central and Southern Denkalia of the Southern Red Sea region have been rehabilitated through livestock worth about 12 million Nakfa, and thereby enable them become self-supporting.
