The inhabitants of Awgaro administrative area, Laelai-Gash sub-zone highlighted the need for exerting still more endeavors towards bringing about lasting  solution to potable water supply problem in the area.

President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at the Denden Hall with the UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Mr. B. Lyn Pasco.
In the meeting, the President noted that the United Nations has major responsibility to bring about peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, and gave extensive briefings on Eritrea’s views as regards issues in the Horn region in general and Sudan, as well as Somalia in particular.

The inhabitants of Damba and Adi-Kerets in Dekemhare sub-zone have taken initiatives to construct water reservoirs and library through voluntarily raising over 350,000 Nakfa and making labor input.

Asmara, 29 August 2010 - President Isaias Afwerki commended and encouraged the Eritrean national soccer team, winner of the silver medal in the 5th Central and East Africa CECAFA- Under 20 Cup for demonstrating an excellent performance.

According to Maj. General Romodan Osman Awliyai, the Eritrean Sports Commissioner, the President followed the commendable performance of the Eritrean national team, and awarded each player as well as the coaches 50,000 Nakfa as encouragement and called on them to work hard for more gratifying outcome.
