Development activities focusing on soil and water conservation are being stepped up in the Central region through the active participation of the general public and members of the Defense Force.

In line with endeavors to install electricity supply in 10 villages of Segeneiti sub-zone, the inhabitants of Ewanet, Digsa, Degra-Lib’a, Adi-Hadid, Birkito, Hiebo and Adi-Kita have become beneficiaries of power supply.

A total of 4,706 students who scored a passing mark in the 2009/2010 High School Leaving National Certificate Exams  would joint the institutions of higher  education to pursue advanced education, according to Dr. Tadesse Mehari, Executive Director of the National Board of Eritrean Institutions of Higher Education.

The inhabitants of Gebrekefelet administrative area, Dubarwa sub-zone, constructed three additional classrooms and other facilities in a junior school in the area through raising about 800,000 Nakfa and involving their labor in the construction process. Besides, they are constructing a pond with a capacity of holding about 250 barrels along with water distribution station, as well as school premises.

The participants of the Summer Work Program (SWP) in Anseba region have carried out effective tasks, stated Mr. Kifle Solomon, Coordinator of the program in the Education Ministry’s branch office in the region.
