Land leveling activities underway in Areza sub-zone

The inhabitants of Kushet Guroto, Mai-Kok, Agama, Adi-Badinkul, Adi-Lamzai, Mai-Menguda, Adi-Gashi and Geza-Hirui carried out extensive land leveling activities through campaign. More than 500 people are taking active participation in the undertaking on a daily basis.
Areza, 23 April 2010 - The inhabitants of Kushet Guroto, Mai-Kok, Agama, Adi-Badinkul, Adi-Lamzai, Mai-Menguda, Adi-Gashi and Geza-Hirui carried out extensive land leveling activities through campaign. More than 500 people are taking active participation in the undertaking on a daily basis.

Mr. Negasi Fiseha, expert in soil and water conservation in Areza sub-zone, stated that the campaign is aimed at leveling extensive agricultural land that had never been utilized before, and thereby put it under cultivation. He further explained that such activities have a significant role to play in soil and water conservation, as well as boosting output. Besides, the contribution of the land leveling scheme in sharing experience as regards modern farming techniques is not to be viewed lightly, Mr. Negasi added.

The participants of the campaign stressed the paramount importance of the scheme in raising agricultural production and achieving food security. A similar popular campaign is also underway in Areza semi-urban center, Hatsina and Ziban Debri administrative area in the same sub-zone, according to reports.
