Efforts to Encourage Farmers Raise Productivity Bear Fruitful Outcome

Endeavors on the of part of the Ministry of Agriculture to encourage nationals engaged in fruits and vegetables farming are bearing fruitful outcome, Stated Mr. Negasi Tesfamichael, a farmer in Endagergis administrative area, Adi-Quala sub-zone.  He said that he has been able to expand his fruits and vegetables farming from three to eight hectares as a result of the Government’s support.

Adi-Quala, 29 April 2010 – Endeavors on the of part of the Ministry of Agriculture to encourage nationals engaged in fruits and vegetables farming are bearing fruitful outcome, Stated Mr. Negasi Tesfamichael, a farmer in Endagergis administrative area, Adi-Quala sub-zone.  He said that he has been able to expand his fruits and vegetables farming from three to eight hectares as a result of the Government’s support.

Disclosing that he is harvesting twice a year, Mr. Negasi indicated that he has managed to make due contribution in stabilizing the price of fruits. Moreover, he has begun introducing dairy farming and sheep breeding.

The head of Home Economics section in Adi-Quala sub-zone, Mr. Frewengel Teklehaimanot said that there are 250 farmers in the sub-zone who have succeeded in cultivating about 350 hectares.
