Campaigns regarding HIV/AIDS bear desired outcome: Report

At an annual meeting of the Bidho National Association, it was disclosed that campaigns conducted to raise public awareness regarding HIV/AIDS and avoid stigma against victims have registered fruitful outcome.   
Asmara, 30 April 2010 – At an annual meeting of the Bidho National Association, it was disclosed that campaigns conducted to raise public awareness regarding HIV/AIDS and avoid stigma against victims have registered fruitful outcome.   

The Association carried out various activities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other partners, as regards combating HIV/AIDS epidemic and provides the necessary assistance to individuals living with the virus.

Speaking at the meeting, the director of HIV/AIDS and TB control, Dr. Andeberhan Tesfatsion, noted that over 22 years have elapsed since the epidemic was witnessed in Eritrea.  Despite the fact that gratifying outcome has been scored in controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS in the country as a result of concerted action on the part of the Government and partners, he nonetheless stressed the need to vigorously combat the epidemic.

The Bidho National Association was set up in 2002 under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health and other concerned bodies.
