Endeavors to raise livestock in Gash-Barka bearing fruitful outcome

The provision of various veterinary service in Gash-Barka region is making due contribution in raising livestock productivity, according to Mr. Seltene Berhe from the branch office of the Agriculture Ministry in the region. 
Barentu, 6 June 2010 – The provision of various veterinary service in Gash-Barka region is making due contribution in raising livestock productivity, according to Mr. Seltene Berhe from the branch office of the Agriculture Ministry in the region. 

Stating that there is limited number of veterinary centers in the region, he indicated that additional stations have been opened in La’alay-Gash and Golij which have large number of livestock. As a result of the number of veterinary centers has increased from 20 to 34. Besides, young graduates from various colleges in the country are being deployed there which are playing due role in ensuring equitable provision of the service.

Animal vaccination campaign is conducted from September to November in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Seltene added.
