Popular campaign being stepped up in Adi-Quala sub-zone

The inhabitants of Adi-Berhan and Geza-Keren administrative areas, Adi-Quala sub-zone, are  undertaking land leveling activities with a view to boosting agricultural output. Adi-Quala, 25 June 2010 - The inhabitants of Adi-Berhan and Geza-Keren administrative areas, Adi-Quala sub-zone, are  undertaking land leveling activities with a view to boosting agricultural output.

About 60,000 hectares have so far been leveled through the campaign in which more than 1,500 people took part on daily basis, according to Mr. Semere Gebremedhin, expert in soil and water conservation in the sub-zone.

He explained that on top of its contribution in promoting soil and water conservation, as well as raising productivity, the campaign has a significant role to play in sharing experience as regards modern farming method.

The participants of the campaign noted the importance of such undertakings in raising soil fertility, besides reinforcing endeavors to achieve food security.
