Anseba Region: Illiteracy Eradication Program Among Children Bearing Fruitful Outcome

Endeavors exerted to provide educational opportunities to children in Anseba region who failed to attend class at the right age due to various reasons are bearing fruitful outcome.
Keren, 21 July 2010 - Endeavors exerted to provide educational opportunities to children in Anseba region who failed to attend class at the right age due to various reasons are bearing fruitful outcome.

In a meeting held in Keren town to assess the program, the head of Adult Education in the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, Ms. Abrehet Gebre, indicated that about 400 students in the age group between 9 to 14 have been promoted to junior level thanks to the program introduced in the 2006/2007 academic year.

She further noted that the program is effectively being undertaken in the sub-zones of Halhal, Asmat, Kerkebet, Hagaz, Geleb, Hamelmalo and Habero. Ms. Abrehet stated that although the participation of female students in the program is commendable, the society should enhance contribution so as to attain the set goal.

The head of basic education in the region, Mr. Hagos Adhana, said on his part that the Ministry is doing its level best for the success of the program and called on parents to take active role in the activities.
