Central Region: Activity assessment meeting

At an assessment meeting the Central region administration conducted on 11 and 12 December, it was reported that the set out development programs of 2017 were implemented through the active participation of the public and the zonal administrations.

Asmara, 14 December 2017 – At an assessment meeting the Central region administration conducted on 11 and 12 December, it was reported that the set out development programs of 2017 were implemented through the active participation of the public and the zonal administrations.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of the Central Region, Maj. Gen. Romodan Osman Awliyay commending the concerted effort exerted in the implementation of the development programs, stated that major projects have been initiated to alleviate the existed potable water and electricity supply problems. He also called for strong participation of the public for the success of the chartered out development programs for 2018.

At the reports presented by the concerned institutions, it was indicated that more than 62 million Nakfa was distributed to families of the martyrs, Edaga Hamus and Birhan Aini Hospitals were renovated, additional class rooms were built in the schools of Geshnashim, Adi-Musa, Sembel, Adi Benei, Adi Segido and Adi Hamushte among other major projects.

Likewise, new asphalt roads were built in Godaif, Sembel, Villagio, Adi-Segido, Tsetserat and Mai-Chehot and major roads in Asmara were renovated at the cost of more than 51 million Nakfa.

Regarding agricultural activities, it was indicated that due to irregular rainfall season only 21 thousand hectares of land was cultivated.
