UCL Students’ visit Eritrea

Students of the University Collage of London conducted Masters Architectural and Historic Urban Environments field trip to Eritrea from 7-13 January.

Asmara, 17 January 2018 - Students of the University Collage of London conducted Masters Architectural and Historic Urban Environments field trip to Eritrea from 7-13 January.

The visiting group included 12 Masters Degree students and two professors from UCL.

The organizer of the visit, Dr. Edward Denison, researcher on Asmara Historical Heritage, stated that the inclusion of the unique architectural buildings of Asmara in academic studies has tremendous benefits.

At  the experience sharing program organized with students of the Eritrean Institute of Technology, Dr. Edward Denison, Professor Hannah Corlett as well as students’ from the University Collage of London presented perspectives on architecture in historic urban environments in Asmara.

Regarding their visit to Eritrea, the Students of UCL expressed impression that they were fascinated by the uniqueness of the history and cultural resources of the people of Eritrea.

Ever since the inscription of Asmara into the UNESCO World Heritage List on 8 July 2017, international interests on the city and its architectural beauty have been increasing.
