Ministry of Health organizes symposium

The Ministry of Health organized a symposium on 16 January at Orrota National Referral Hospital.

 

Asmara, 17 January 2018- The Ministry of Health organized a symposium on 16 January at Orrota National Referral Hospital. At the symposium research papers focusing on health issues were presented by the staff members of the Ministry of Health who have been pursuing distant education in master’s degree from the University of Dundee based in Scotland.

The research papers presented included main causes for traffic accidents in Eritrea, pregnant women and role of health facilities, assessment of self treatment of diabetics, experience of Eritrean families in the treatment of mental and physical disabilities, accidents related to depression as well as condition of hotels vis-à-vis provision of services.

At the symposium in which Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health and Dr. Linda Martindale, head of Post Registration and Post Graduate Studies at the University of Dundee took part, Dr. Berhane Debru, Acting D. G. of Policy, Planning and Human Resources, said that the research papers presented were focused on selected topics of interest and in congruent with the five years research agenda of the Ministry of health.

Dr. Linda Martindale on her part gave extensive briefing on the background of the University of Dundee and on the contribution of research in implementing development programs.
