Gash-Barka: Installation of electricity in 5 semi-urban centers finalized

In line with endeavors to expand equitable social services in all parts of the country, the task of   installing reliable electricity service in the semi-urban centers of Mogolo, Tokombia, Bushuku’a, Shambuko and Binbina has been finalized.

Barentu, 2 October 2010 - In line with endeavors to expand equitable social services in all parts of the country, the task of   installing reliable electricity service in the semi-urban centers of Mogolo, Tokombia, Bushuku’a, Shambuko and Binbina has been finalized.

The head of the Eritrean Electricity Corporation branch in Barentu town, Mr. Teame Yohannes, stated that the task of putting into place poles, distribution of electric lines and installation of transformers, as well as other facilities has been accomplished. Accordingly, about 1,300 power counters have been distributed to households and institutions.  In this respect, he explained that the aforementioned semi-urban centers would get access to electricity service at the end of this year.

The supervisor of the electric line installation process, Mr. Tesfai Kidane, said on his part that the project being implemented would facilitate the pace of urbanization in the area. He further indicated that a new generator would be put in place that provide electricity service to Barentu town and its environs, thus tackling the problem of power cut previously encountered as a result of old equipments.
