Asmara, 26 February 2010 - Eid Al- Maulid Anebi was today celebrated across the nation in a colorful manner.
At the celebration held at the Al-Khulafa Al-Rashideen Mosque here in the capital, ministers, regional administrators, Army commanders, Government and PFDJ officials, as well as religious leaders, Ambassadors accredited in Eritrea and thousands of the faithful took part. The Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman Al-Amin, wished a happy Eid Al-Maulid and stated that thanks to Allah, the unity of the Eritrean people would never be affected under any circumstance be it in times of peace or crisis. The Mufti further asserted that the vicious sanctions resolution would be rebuffed through the Eritrean people’s firm unity.

Also speaking on the occasion, the General Secretary of the Asmara Islamic Awkaf Congress, Mohammed Berhan Ahmed Maeruf, outlined the history and significance of the religious holiday.

Various religious songs and poems were staged by students and others at the celebrations, thus adding color to the event.
