Modern Road Networks In Dekemhare Town Making Vital Contribution In Preventing Traffic Accidents

Dekemhare, 1 March 2010 - Modern road networks in Dekemhare town that were constructed in 2007 at an expenditure of over 65 million Nakfa are playing significant role in preventing traffic accidents, according to Maj. Gebremeskel Tekle, Commander of the police force in the town.

He noted that previously there existed only one narrow road in the town used to serve both cars and pedestrians, and consequently traffic accidents were common. Since the construction of a modern road that took into account the pedestrians and vehicles, however, road accidents have dramatically reduced, Maj. Gebremeskel added.

The head of town development, Ms. Kedes Mebrahtu, indicated on her part that the construction of a 2 Km-long road along the streets of the town is making vital contribution as regards provision of suitable transport service. More than 760 tree seedlings have also been planted along the newly constructed roads, she elaborated.
