Various welfare projects implemented in Southern region at 141 million Nakfa: Ministry
Mendefera, 20 December 2012 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the Southern region indicated that it has equitably implemented various welfare projects at 141 million Nakfa this year. The branch office made the statement at an annual meeting in which it was stated that more than 37,600 families of martyrs, disabled citizens, orphans and street children have become beneficiaries of the benefit schemes involving financial and material support, as well as loan.
Mr. Haile Gebremichael from the branch office explained that 97% of the beneficiaries of loan have made reimbursements, and that future undertaking of the office would focus on assessing the impact of the scheme in improving the livelihood of the creditors.
The participants of the meeting on their part called on the branch office to reinforce its communicational endeavors and exert further efforts pursuing its strategies of human resource development and job creation.
Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, director general of social service department in the branch office, pointed out that such accomplishment attests to the impact of government commitment in addressing social ills, and that further endeavors would be exerted to this end.
