Ginda, 29 December 2012 – Reports indicated that the impact of the Summer Work Program (SWP) has become visible in the sub-zones of Ginda, Nacfa and Afabet. The account was made by line ministries and national associations at an assessment meeting conducted this week in Ginda town in which Area Administrators were present.

Mr. Fisehatsion Tekie from the Education Ministry’s branch in the Northern Red Sea region explained that the student-centered venture involved afforestation, construction and refurbishment of terraces, as well as other tasks. He further disclosed that around 900 students, based on 9 stations, made impressive accomplishments under the supervision and guidance of teachers and agriculture experts.

Mr. Reshid Mohammed, head of the branch office, said that active participation of girls was demonstrated in the process which provided the groundwork for exchange of experience and the nurturing of hard work.

Ms. Amna Haji Osman, Administrator of Ginda sub-zone, noted the program’s input to national endeavors of ensuring food security and called on the pertinent bodies to enhance integrated efforts as regards raising student awareness to this end vis-à-vis follow-up of the accomplishment registered.
