Assab, 1 January 2013 – The Administration of the Southern Red Sea region indicated that it has implemented various development programs in 2012. The regional Administrator, Mr. Ali Mahmoud, disclosed that 7 villages whose inhabitants were leading nomadic lifestyle have fully resorted to community-based living, besides the putting in place of 6 potable water supply facilities.

Moreover, he pointed out that the Administration has been working with priority as regards rehabilitation of the inhabitants displaced by volcanic eruption, which venture involves construction of residential houses and the putting in place of social service facilities. They were rehabilitated in livestock and boats in collaboration with the ministries of labor and human welfare, as well as marine resource.

The regional Administrator further explained that the popular undertakings have become a vital asset in the construction and renovation of dirt roads, and called on the inhabitants to practice prudent utilization of social service facilities. Accordingly, the promotion of community-based style of living is among the major undertakings set for implementation in 2013.
