Secondary education introduced in Endagergis semi-urban center
Adi-Quala, 12 March 2010 - In line with the vigorous endeavors being made to expand educational opportunities in all parts of the country, especially remote areas, secondary education has now been introduced in Endagergis semi-urban center, Adi-Quala sub-zone.
Previously, high school students in the semi-urban center were compelled to travel to Adi-Quala to pursue secondary education, which in turn resulted in low student attendance, particularly females.
The students sated that the introduction of secondary education in their locality would play significant role in promoting active student participation in education in general and females in particular.
Reports indicated that there existed no educational service in the area prior to independence, and that in the post-independence period, educational opportunities ranging from elementary to the secondary level has been introduced.
The director of the school, Mr. Abrahaley Tekle, explained that the students used to encounter a lot of problems since they were traveling to various distant towns, and that the newly opened High School would encourage them to demonstrate excellence in their academic pursuit.
