Northern Red Sea Regional Assembly holds 10th regular meeting
Massawa, 12 March 2010 - The Northern Red Sea Regional Assembly held its 10th regular meeting in Massawa city from March 10 to 11. The Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Sheik, pointed out that the unjust US sanctions resolution adopted in the name of the Security Council would only help to strengthen the Eritrean people’s unity, besides reinforcing the national development drive. The development achievements registered as regards soil and water conservation, construction of roads, expansion of social service and the like would serve as a steppingstone for the nation’s bright future, he elaborated. The Administrator of the region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, stressed the need for enhancing contribution in efforts to judiciously harness the existing resources in the region for the benefit of the nation. The land leveling scheme undertaken in the region was also imperative, the Administrator added.
In the meeting in which Assembly members, sub-zonal administrators, PFDJ head and that of ministries’ branch offices and national associations took part, reports were presented on a number of topics, including the implementation of development and infrastructure programs, expansion of education, health and potable water supply services, as well as the tasks being undertaken to support martyrs’ families, disabled nationals, displaced citizens and others, in addition to the efforts being made to nurture dynamic youths.
The Assembly took note of and approved the regional Administration’s action plan for 2010, and adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations.
