Minister Calls on Teachers to Enhance Participation in Preserving and Bequeathing Societal Values
Asmara, 18 April 2010 - In a seminar he conducted in the Asmara Teachers Training Institute, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom, stressed the need for teachers to enhance contribution in the task of preserving and bequeathing the society’s cherished values and norms.
In the seminar focused on the objective situation in the country and the challenges lying ahead, as well as the awareness of teacher candidates regarding health issues, he stated that the Ministry would organize different skill-upgrading training courses to teachers.
Experts from the ministries of education and health, as well as the PFDJ office in Central region presented papers focusing on temporary challenges and national resolute rebuff, the negative impact of globalization and the spread of HIV/AIDS infection.
The papers highlighted the need for youth in general and candidate teachers in particular to be well aware of the negative impact of globalization and HIV/AIDS.
The Asmara Teachers Training Institutes is currently providing training to a total of 558 nationals, out of whom 161 are females.
