New micro-dam constructed in Gaden administrative area
Dekmhare, 26 July 2010 - A micro-dam with a capacity of holding over 120,000 cubic meters of water has been constructed in Hanseito, Gaden administrative area, and has already begun rendering service.
The Administrator of the area, Mr. Tekleab Gebrai, the construction of the micro-dam at a cost of 3.8 million Nakfa is aimed at facilitating irrigation and cattle husbandry activities in the area, besides enriching underground water resource.
The local inhabitants stressed the significance of the project in easing clean water problem in the area, especially during dry times.
Reports indicated that a junior school and a micro-dam were constructed last year, and that the installation of electricity is nearing finalization in line with efforts to improve the people’s standard of living.
There exist 2 junior and 4 elementary schools, a health station, 2 major dams and 5 water reservoirs, as well as 3 drill-wells in Gaden administrative area which is located in Dekemhare sub-zone.
