Norway: Warsay Soccer Team Defeated in Semi-Finals

Asmara, 6 August 2010 - The Eritrean children soccer team, Warsay, that participated in the Norwegian Football Cup matches was today beaten by the Thai counterpart in the semi-finals.  

Although the team defeated the Norwegian counterpart 1 to 0 in the morning hours today, it was beaten by Thailand’s counterpart
3 to 0 in the afternoon hours. Consequently, it would take part in the matches for the 3rd or 4th rank.

Also in the afternoon matches yesterday, the Mekete team faced the Kenyan counterpart, and the two sides finished with 0 to 0 score during the regular and additional time. The Mekete team was subsequently out of the competition as a result of lot.

It is to be recalled that the Mekete team with the age group 12 to 13 advanced to the semi-finals through standing first in the group comprising 112, while the Warsay team of the age group 14 to 15 stood first from the total number of 152.

It is to be noted that the Warsay soccer team won last year’s Norwegian Football Cup.
