Enhanced societal role imperative for upgrading school competence: Report

Keren, 17 August 2010 - At an assessment meeting it held in Keren, the Education Ministry’s branch in Anseba region disclosed that the role and contribution of the society have a vital role to play for the success of the efforts being exerted to upgrade the quality and competence of schools.

The meeting took note of the fruitful outcome of the endeavors made in renovation of schools and elevating their levels towards upgrading the quality of education and promoting the participation of students in education.

Extensive discussion was also conducted as regards the tasks accomplished in the 2009/2010 academic year in general and the results scored in the Grade 8 national exams and 11th grade, the weak and strong points in the provision of basic education, as well as ways of enhancing female participation in education, among others.

The head of the branch office, Mr. Bokretsion Habtemichael, indicated that the problems that used to encountered in the teaching-learning process are being tackled, and stressed the  need for exerting still more endeavors so as to achieve the set objective.
