More Students to Join Institutions of Higher Education

Asmara, 20 August 2010 - A total of 4,706 students who scored a passing mark in the 2009/2010 High School Leaving National Certificate Exams  would joint the institutions of higher  education to pursue advanced education, according to Dr. Tadesse Mehari, Executive Director of the National Board of Eritrean Institutions of Higher Education.

He pointed out that in accordance with the procedure charted by the national board, over 95% of those who scored passing mark have been enrolled in the field of their choice. Meanwhile, although all 253 students who scored full mark in the exams preferred to join the School of Medicine, especially medical doctorate study, 50 students have been enrolled for such study following thorough scrutiny due to the lack of enough capacity in the School.

Highlighting the need for students to avail themselves of the available educational opportunities, Dr. Tadesse expressed conviction that the quality of Eritrean curriculum would  be ensured shortly.
