220 students graduate from Asmara College of Nursing and Health Technology
Asmara, 23 January 2010 - A total of 220 students, out of whom 54 are females graduated in diploma today from the Asmara College of Nursing and Health Technology upon completion of a 3-year long course in maternity nursing.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the director general of research and human resource development in the Health Ministry, Dr. Andom Ogbamariam, stated that the Government is doing its level best towards promoting public health. He went on to say that qualitative changes are expected to be brought about in the provision of medical service in 2010 taking into account the deployment of additional health professionals, including 220 maternity nurses, 31 medical doctors, 8 pediatricians and others.
The director of the College, Mr. Tesfai Wahd, indicated on his part outlined the achievements registered as a result of substantial government expenditure and the dedication of instructors. He further noted that temporary centers have opened in Mendefera, Dekemhare, Adi-Keih, Keren, Afabet and Tessenei so as to enrich the theoretical knowledge through practical activities.
Certificates were handed to the graduates and prizes awarded to those who demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuit.
