The Eritrean people endured an inconceivably bitter struggle, in the victorious culmination of which they secured their rightful place among the world community. However, the sacrifices they have had to pay to secure such a right are beyond conventional measure. For more than half a century, the Eritrean people managed to overcome the numerous conspiracies and ploys against them and ultimately secured their dignity and sovereignty depending solely on themselves. They had been able to achieve freedom on their own terms because of their ardent patriotism and absolute readiness to sacrifice their lives for their country and people.

The Eritrean people’s existence has thus been forged with this unrivaled culture of devotion and sacrifice. Hence, the love and respect that the Eritrean people have for the martyrs who secured their very existence and continuity is beyond comparison. Eritrean martyrs had sacrificed their precious lives for their people and country and thus the significance of their sacrifice commands the most revered value. That is why the Eritrean people cannot only tolerate pretentious displays of compassion but also will not allow the name of the martyrs to serve any purpose of deception by anyone.

Eritrean martyrs sacrificed their lives to secure the rights of their people, which the exploitive world powers had deliberately suppressed for their own geopolitical interests. These particular world powers had plotted endless schemes to destroy Eritrean identity and consequently robbed the Eritrean people of their precious time and opportunities. Had there not existed such conspiracies and plots against them, the Eritrean people would not have had to sacrifice their precious sons and daughters. Now, the powers that had continuously conspired against the very existence of the Eritrean people are shedding crocodile tears and making claims of sympathizing with the Eritrean people and their martyrs. The Eritrean people had endured bitter hardship and sacrificed their lives, time and energy due to the misguided policies and devious machinations of these powers. Hence, the attempts on the part of these powers to appear as if they sympathize with the struggle of martyrdom of the Eritrean people can only be an intolerable mockery aimed at creating division between the Eritrean people and their government.

Forged with the martyrdom of precious lives, it is impossible to conceive that the unity and patriotism of the Eritrean people could ever be compromised by the deceptive rhetoric and false compassion of those quarters that had in the past conspired and continue to conspire against Eritrea and its people. However, if these quarters are at all hoping to succeed in their wicked efforts, it is imperative to state that today just as before, the Eritrean people and their rightful path will as ever culminate in victory.
