Playing With Fire: A Desperate Move by the Foolhardy
In openly launching aggression against Eritrea and Somalia, the TPLF regime had not only disrupted the peace and stability of the Horn region, as it had been entrusted by its masters to do so, but also plunged Ethiopia into an inescapable political quagmire. As a result of its actions in carrying out its devious mission, the TPLF regime is now trapped in the tangled web of mounting popular opposition inside Ethiopia and strong legal challenges from outside. However, instead of rectifying past mistakes and respecting the choice of the people and the rule of law, the clique continues to repeat mistake after mistake. Recently, the TPLF clique engaged itself in diplomatic and media campaign to blow out of proportion the nonexistent ‘conflict’ between Eritrea and Djibouti.

Manipulation in the Name of the Supreme Sacrifice of Our Martyrs is Unacceptable
The Eritrean people endured an inconceivably bitter struggle, in the victorious culmination of which they secured their rightful place among the world community. However, the sacrifices they have had to pay to secure such a right are beyond conventional measure. For more than half a century, the Eritrean people managed to overcome the numerous conspiracies and ploys against them and ultimately secured their dignity and sovereignty depending solely on themselves. They had been able to achieve freedom on their own terms because of their ardent patriotism and absolute readiness to sacrifice their lives for their country and people.

A Commemoration that Honored the Heroic Feats of Our Martyrs
The entire Eritrean people living inside the country and abroad celebrated the 24th of May, Independence Day, with great joy and vivacity. Now nearly a month later, Eritreans all over commemorated June 20, Martyrs Day, with profound awareness of the martyrs’ sacrifices by holding a candle light vigil as has become a national custom. As President Isaias pointed out, the artistic works and candle light parade that mark the commemoration of Martyrs Day are a way of saying that ‘our martyrs live on!’

Rest in Peace – Your Sacrifice Has Not Been In Vain
The ultimate victorious outcome of war emanating out of an illegal intrusion or attack on a nation, no matter how long it might take, does not depend on the amount of money, ammunition or size of army that the intruder might have at their disposal, but rather more on the courage, determination, selflessness and strong sense of duty and love for country..

Eritrea: My search for a beloved family
My trips to Eritrea are always too short, not enough time to visit with all the members of the family, not enough time to shop at shuq, to find that clay pot to finish the set I got on the last trip, and always not enough days to see all the development projects in all the 6 regions. As much as I travel in Eritrea, there is always something-some right in Asmara that I don’t get a chance to see.

United States, Eritrea, and the Horn of Africa: The Political Rhetoric of Democracy and the Era of Hegemony - Lessens to Be Learned
Eritrea is, as Marcus Aurelius would say, “Like the promontory against which the waves continually break, but it stands firm and tames the fury of the water around it”.

Terrible Famine that Exposed TPLF’s Empty Boasting
When in 1974 Emperor Haile Selassie was hosting the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), thousands of Ethiopians had died as a result of the famine in the Wollo region. At the time, the Emperor had sought to cover up this sad loss of life by making extravagant expenditures to entertain foreigners participating in the commemoration in a bid to promote Ethiopia’s image. However, it proved impossible to cover up a famine that claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people.

Did The Mind Altering Drugs Do It?
As though the trauma, terror and destructive nature of war by itself were not bad enough, and as though the new lawless system of fighting a war, by launching guided rockets and missiles, so-called smart weapons, sent from far away ships or higher up planes, dropped in densely populated areas with the hope of killing one or two wanted individuals, supposedly hiding among innocent civilians, causing thousands of innocents to be killed and wounded, in what the launchers unrepentantly justify their mad deeds as collateral damage, was not horrifying enough, what, in addition to all this madness could explain the logic behind the extra disturbing atrocities which we hear of, such as looting, hanging, gang raping, slitting of throats and gouging out of eyes, and much, much more unmentionable gruesome acts, being visited on innocent civilians by rogue soldiers?

Jendai E. Frazer’s Deceptions, Evasions and Lies at the University of Washington
When I heard that US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs was going to speak on 30 May 2008 at the University of Washington, I was hoping that Eritreans, Ethiopians, Somalis and others who have been negatively affected by US Policy for Africa could attend. Many did and I have been reading their varied reports and watching the video on youtube.

An Unforgettable Crime
Yesterday marked the 10th of June; ten years ago on this day the TPLF regime issued an order prohibiting any Eritrean to enter Ethiopia through any means of transportation. Two days later on 12 June 1998, the regime officially declared that all Eritreans residing in Ethiopia as well as all Ethiopians of Eritrean descent will be collectively deported from the country. The following day, TPLF cadres embarked on a campaign of dragging Eritreans and Ethiopians of Eritrean descent, including day-old infants, from their homes and putting them in prison camps while looting their belongings.
