President holds talks with Egyptian delegation

Asmara, 22 April 2008 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with an Egyptian delegation headed by the Deputy Head of National Security, Mr. Omar Kenawi.

In the meeting at Denden Hall here in the capital, the two sides held discussions on bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade spheres, as well as regional issues.

Noting that Eritrean-Egyptian ties are historical and strategic that are based on mutual benefit, the two sides reached understanding that both governments should create an effective mechanism so as to strengthen the existing relations.

In addition, they agreed to take concrete steps towards developing commercial and economic relations and conducting continuous visits at the level of heads, as well as promoting joint cooperation and coordination regarding regional issue.
