Ethiopian People: Main Victims of TPLF Adventurism

The TPLF clique pursues sub national and divisive politics to gain control over the people, compromising the Ethiopian people’s opportunities in order to secure the interests of a minority group. However, contrary to the regime’s objectives, this childish approach has only served in hastening its downfall. The May 2005 elections and the ensuing turmoil are a patent indication of the extent of the Ethiopian people’s opposition towards the regime’s divide and rule tactics.

In May 2005, the Ethiopian people made it clear that they wanted the TPLF regime to step down from power. However, the regime illegally clung to power for the last three years through terrorizing and massacring civilians. As a result of the tension between the Ethiopian people’s choice and the TPLF’s adventurism, Ethiopia is not only suffering from volatile political turmoil but has also plunged into a deep economic crisis. Nonetheless, rather than calling for respect for the Ethiopian people’s choice, world powers that have long supported the TPLF turned a blind eye to the regime’s crimes and atrocities against the people and continue to subsidize it. Moreover, these powers went on to provide the criminal regime with every kind of assistance in an effort to save it from inevitable demise. Putting complete faith in the protection provided by its masters, the TPLF regime continues to step up its atrocities and adventurism. However, it is impossible to save an oppressive regime, such as the TPLF, from ultimate downfall.

Despite its efforts to appear the opposite, the TPLF is now an entity on the verge of collapse. Today Ethiopia is more than ever like a volcano waiting to erupt at any given moment. The armed oppositions erupting in different parts of Ethiopia are aggravating the security situation in the country, thereby prompting the TPLF to commit crime after crime in desperation. Hence, the question of where the regime is heading to is quite evident. The regime itself is well aware that the end is fast approaching and is only clinging to the desperate hope of taking Eritrean nationals down along with it. The TPLF’s current last hour attempts to disguise itself as a ‘powerful’ political force are merely an attempt to buy more time.

Failing to achieve its objective through pursuing a Machiavellian approach, and facing the end of its existence as a political force, the TPLF sought to prolong its stay in power by assuming an image of false strength. However, truth can never stay buried for long and hence the true image of the regime and its atrocities against the Ethiopian people were eventually unmasked. The TPLF’s crime of genocide against the Ogaden people exposed through the media the world over clearly depicts its desperation. Contrary to the claims of economic progress sprouted by the regime, the food shortage and price hike in the country have reached a stage where they cannot be disguised through futile propaganda.

Brutally oppressing people in a bid to assume the status of a giant, the true image of the TPLF has now more than ever before been exposed before the Ethiopian people and the world as a whole. Just as all anti-people regimes, the TPLF will soon be thrown into the dustbin of history.
