Assab, 8 May 2008 - The Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman Al-Amin, said that the Eritreans are noble people who coexist in harmony and mutual respect through reinforcing their unity and rebuffing all types of conspiracies. The Mufti made the remarks in the course of a visit to the Southern Red Sea region from May 1 to 2.

Indicating that hostile forces are engaged in futile attempts to paralyze the productivity of youth under the guise of religion, and that they are employing religion as an instrument to undermine national unity and development, Sheik Al-Amin called on the Eritrean people, particularly the youth, to keep vigilance against such ploys.

Moreover, Sheik Al-Amin held talks with the Administrator of the region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegergis, during which he commended the implementation of reconstruction programs in the region through the Warsay-Yikaalo Development Campaign. Also in the course of the visit to the newly built Dihtum Referral Hospital in Assab, the Mufti escorted by the head of the hospital, Dr. Haile Kidane, observed the activities of the hospital and expressed goodwill to patients.

Sheik Al-Amin Osman expressed satisfaction with the Eritrean government’s vision of building a prosperous nation in which generations could lead a life of dignity and security. The Mufti also held talks with Awkaf heads in the different sub-zones of the region regarding their activities.
